Apple Mac: No airport card installed

Last Saturday afternoon, I encountered something unusual when I opened my Apple Mac. I could not connect to the Internet because my Apple Mac’s AirPort was off but I actually left the AirPort on when I shut down my Apple Mac Friday night. I tried to turn it on but it did not turn on, nothing happened.

I restarted my Apple Mac hoping to be able to connect to the Internet but this time the AirPort was no longer on or off but showed that there was no airport card installed.

So I used the ethernet cable to connect to the Internet and search the net for any solution with keywords “no airport card installed”.

I found something through this thread, Topic : No AirPort card installed!??.

I did the following:

1. I shut down the computer.

2. I removed the power cable and battery, the ethernet cable as well.

3. I then hold down the power button for five seconds.

4. I then reinserted the battery and attached the power cord.

5. I then hold down the keys, command (cmd), option (alt), p and r while pressing the power button.

I did not stop pressing the command, option, p and r keys while pressing the power button until I heard three start-up chimes.

With that, my Apple Mac was sort of turned on (you will notice that because of the chime) because I was pressing down the power button with the other four keys but eventually it turned off too after the three start-up chimes.

I then turned on my Apple Mac and saw that the AirPort was on again.

Yes, it worked indeed!

But I tell you, it was not easy pressing four keys while pressing the power button.

Whew! 🙂
