Finally, I was able to revise Weggis.net Web site. The look is not really different from the old web design. I just improved it a little bit. I changed all the pages from HTML to XHTML and PHP but then realized that I’d better integrate it with WordPress.
I integrated my own coded XHTML and PHP pages with WordPress. I redirected HTML pages to the new pages. Weggis.net is now more interactive. I just designed my own theme based on the original site.
I installed the latest version of WordPress 2.0.3 and also used WordPress Widgets. The Widgets make the sidebar easy to tweak. If what you want is not included in the original zip file, just download that particular Widget Plugin, upload it at the Plugins folder and activate it. Once activated, you’ll see the Sidebar Widgets along with the Themes, Theme Editor at the Site Admin Presentation. If the Widget Plugin is not activated, then you will not see any change at the Site Admin Presentation.
I started revising it last week, exactly seven days ago. So I was quite busy for the past few days. But even before that, I was already quite busy then. I was busy revising my other websites and doing the donation pages of Green Cross Switzerland.
Speaking of Green Cross Switzerland, we haven’t finalized the donation pages yet. I’m still waiting for the English, Italian and French translations as the pages were done in German language.
Yesterday, I updated Green Cross Switzerland Media pages regarding the 1st National Nuclear Dialogue in Moscow on July 3-4, 2006. The Nuclear and Disarmament Experts emphasize the importance of the demilitarization of the materials and weapons of mass destruction.
The National Nuclear Dialogue was held 10 days before the 2006 G8 Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia where efforts of the G8 led “Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction” will be highly prioritized.
Read the reports in German and French languages at the website of Green Cross Switzerland for more information.
Nice Site! Hey, what is the difference between weggis.ch and weggis.net? I’m an Ortsb?rger of Weggis, so it’s always nice to see what’s going on there.
Hi Dani, so you’re also from Weggis. That’s nice to know. 🙂 Now that I integrated the site with WordPress, I will surely be updating the site as often as I could as I always write about Weggis at SofieHofmann.com. Weggis.net is my own site dedicated to Weggis but I was not able to update it regularly. Weggis.ch is the official site of Weggis Tourism. I’m not at all connected with Weggis Tourism and its site. When I registered the domain name weggis.net, I just thought then, that may be it’s also nice to make a website for Weggis aside from Pandan (Antique, Philippines), the town where I came from. I did a lot of homepages/websites for my hometown Pandan, including the Official Website of the Municipality of Pandan, Antique.
Hi Sofie. Well, I never lived in Weggis but my ancestors did for maybe 600 years or more and the church near the lanke has my family coat-of-arms. Maybe at SwissPinoy.com, I could make a list of things done by SwissPinoys? There, I could list every web site that you created, for example. What would I call such a list? What do you think? I think that it would be fun to list nice things that SwissPinoys created.
It almost looks nicer than the “official” site, Sofie! 😉 Beautiful! And like the fact that you added Mark Twain’s quote…:-)
Hi Dani… I see, I have to look for that coat of arms there. 🙂 With regards to the list about Swiss Pinoys creations, that’s a good idea. People will see the innovativeness of the Filipinos, and perhaps their blunders as well… 🙂
Hi Carissa… thanks for that nice comment… 🙂 I especially looked for that Mark Twain’s, with reference. Hey, it’s Rosenfest here, we were down there last night. I will try to upload some pics at Weggis.net, if the photos are nice. It’s a little bit dark, you know. I wanted to do it last night but I was already so sleepy so I just went to bed.
You’re welcome 😀 I like the layout in general, really very nice…aaaahhhh, I miss Rosenfest EVERY year! 🙁 Oh no, wait, when is it over? Will it still be Rosenfest on Sunday? Until what time? I might be able to come home quickly then LOL And I want to go swimming in the lake! 😀
Has my Mom asked you once if you could design a webpage for her “Ilokandia Club Switzerland”? 🙂 I gave her that hint once, but she told me, she had already talked about that with you during Brazil Football camp…
Hi Carissa… Rosenfest will be until tomorrow, Sunday. Fireworks will be tonight at 10:30-11:00pm followed by “Wahl der Rosenk?nigin”.
Regarding the homepage, your mom asked me about it but I haven’t contacted her yet. 🙂
Hi Sofie… my family coat of arms can also be found on the wall in the Weggiser-St?bli and on the wall in the Rathaus. Here’s what it looks like: http://wogsblog.blogspot.com/2006/06/p-kuettel-in-news.html
Hi Dani, I see… regarding “Rathaus”, maybe you mean at the “Gemeindehaus” in Weggis. Got confused because what I know is, we don’t have a “Rathaus” in Weggis, but there’s a “Rathaus” in Lucerne. I was always telling Hub a joke about that “Rathaus” word. Just read it like it’s an english word… house of the rat… 😀
The site looks clean and nice to me. It’s packed with 100% you-must-know-this information. I’ve checked out your collection of photos and it seems that though you have entitled the section with dot dot dot PHOTOS with an S, you are just showing one and only photo. I suppose the collection can better jive with the title if the S goes with the number of photos you have on-site. How’s that for you?
Regards,
John
